Zibi Redevelopment

Decontie Construction Inc. (DCI) was retained by Windmill Development/DREAM/THEIA to act as the Algonquin Liaison General Contractor involved in the preparatory and implementation phases of the Zibi project in Ottawa, Ontario.

Us at Decontie Construction Inc. (DCI) had a very important part. Our role was to recruit, hire and train an Algonquin‐Anishinabe/First Nation workforce to work on this 15-year development plan. As part of this role, DCI assisted interested individuals with the training and certification process to ensure they met all of the required labour regulations and standards. That, may we add, was not easy, because it involved both Ontario and Quebec workers.

Decontie Construction and Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. joined forces and created Decontie Milestone Inc. to execute projects in the following areas; building and environmental decommissioning, remediation, and land reclamation. Together, they are the perfect example of how a non-indigenous company and an Algonquin Anishinabe one can work together to better the Algonquin Anishinabe Construction Tradespeople. This collaborative approach will encourage more companies to do so and will set the path for them.
